For Ed Cashwell, success in real estate has never been measured by the number of transactions he closes. It's measured by the relationships he builds, the trust he earns, and the clients who confidently refer him to family and friends years later.
Licensed since 2003, Ed has successfully guided more than 450 buyers and sellers through the real estate process, averaging more than 20 transactions each year throughout his career. He spent 23 years serving buyers and sellers throughout Greater Boston, where he built a reputation for exceptional communication, expert negotiation, and concierge-level service.
Before launching his real estate career, Ed held leadership positions with GE Capital, Nissan Motor Acceptance, and SAFECO Insurance Company. His corporate background sharpened the professionalism, attention to detail, and client-first mindset that continue to define his business today.
Having successfully guided hundreds of clients through local moves, long-distance relocations, and life transitions, Ed understands that buying or selling a home is about much more than real estate. It's about helping people confidently begin their next chapter.
In 2025, Ed's heart called him back home to North Carolina. Returning to his Charlotte roots marked the beginning of what he describes as his "second act" in real estate, allowing him to combine decades of experience with a renewed focus on serving clients throughout the Lake Norman region.
Rather than pursuing a high-volume business, Ed intentionally limits the number of clients he serves so he can provide an elevated, concierge-style experience. Whether helping first-time buyers, relocating families, or longtime homeowners preparing to sell, every client receives his full attention, thoughtful guidance, and unwavering commitment from start to finish.
Ed's dedication to excellence has earned numerous industry honors, including the RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award and the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ed credits much of his success to two important influences: his grandmother, who taught him the value of hard work, and his "real estate mom," Betty Zak, who recognized his potential early in his career and encouraged him to pursue real estate.
Today, Ed is proud to be part of Lake Norman Realty.
"What drew me to Lake Norman Realty is that it's more than just a brokerage. It's a local institution built by a Lake Norman family that genuinely cares about this community and the success of its associates. Their commitment to clients, their reputation, and the caliber of people here inspired me in this second chapter of my career. I've come home to a place I love, with people I love, doing what I love."
Ed is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College, where he earned a degree in Political Science. He also holds the respected CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), ABR (Accredited Buyer's Representative), and GRI (Graduate, REALTOR® Institute) designations.
When he's not helping clients achieve their real estate goals, you'll find Ed and his husband, Richard, a Boston native, with iced coffees from Dunkin' in hand, exploring North Carolina one back road at a time. Whether they're discovering a hidden barbecue joint, finding an authentic Mexican restaurant, or simply driving without a destination, they know the best adventures are often the unplanned ones.
